About the photographer and your pet’s portrait session

Gloria’s love of her animals and those of her family and friends, have turned her sights toward her passion of photography.  Her love of animals is displayed in the interaction, and the mood she tries to capture in her subject.  From the frisky kitten chasing her tail to lounging with the family dog in it’s favorite chair or a parrot flaunting it’s colorful feathers to the horse prancing about in the arena, Gloria tries to capture the essence of each animal’s personality.

At Your Wings Photography, we love working with animals and we try to make our sessions with your furry, feathered or whatever type family friend you have – enjoyable.  It is important that the animals be completely comfortable with us so we spend the first part of the session just playing.  We use lots of patience, lots of treats (if permitted), some toys, and most importantly, lots of fun and play!  It’s time spent observing your pet and talking with you, their owners to understand their uniqueness.  All sessions are held at your location.

While we’re getting to know your animals, we’ll usually ask for a quick tour inside and outside to scout out the best places to take some pictures and gauge the lighting conditions.  Location photo shoots are generally done using natural/available light.  Obviously the location of the pictures will be dependent on the type of animal(s) in your family.  Weather-permitting, if appropriate, we’ll begin with taking some shots outdoors.  Here your pet can run, jump, play and just show off to their heart’s content.  Then we’ll go inside for some quieter shots from inside the house once your pet has released some of their energy from playing.

Overall, we’ll capture a variety of shots from action to still shots, from full body portraits to head shots and a lot of fun close-ups.  We will take an assortment of shots from a variety of angles to capture the essence of your animal’s personality. You are definitely welcome to play and interact with your pet too!

Once I return to my digital darkroom, I will go through and edit the session photos, make basic tone/color corrections, and create a set of photos for your review.  In addition, I will select a few of the best photos and create a few creative variations in both color and black and white for you.  This will illustrate some of the custom options available for any of your session photos.

Then we’ll get together for a second time to view your photos and discuss which photos you like and which custom styles you prefer.  Once you have your selections, we’ll apply the styles to your selections and post them online like and invite others to look at your photos.

Please check out our gallery, and we look forward to hearing from you soon.
